Size: Large | Age: Young | Gender: Male | Breed: Alaskan Malamute
Max is a loving 3 YEAR OLD MALE Alaskan Malamute with TRUE BLACK markings and a slightly wooly coat. He is so cute with one ear up, and one ear down! His puppy like personality is fun for all. He’s got a nice, deep “tenor” bark. A confident guy and a joy to have! He likes to cozy up to you and get all cuddly! He has absolutely no bad habits that we have seen in the few weeks we’ve had him. Max is housetrained, crate trained and walks well on leash. He rides well in vehicles and likes kids. He has gotten along well with other dogs, but not sure about small dogs, cats or livestock. He is neutered and up to date on his vaccinations.
His owner wasn’t able to care for him, so he was returned to us, the breeders. His sister picked on him quite a bit, and so another situation like that would not be good. He separated smoothly from his sister when she went to her new home. Either a home without other dogs, or a mild personality could make a nice pal for him.
Like most Malamutes, he needs lots of love and people time; someone that is home a lot would be a must. He needs his own “pack” family to be a part of. If we didn’t already have two, we’d take him in a minute! We have fallen in love with him, as well as those who meet him do! We have all of his health records and blood lines, and any other information you might want. This adorable sweet Mal needs a new forever home and commitment.
Health issue: When Max came to us, he was under great stress from several angles; taken away from the home he knew for three years, possible reaction to a recent rabies vaccination, his sister had been picking on him, and he may just have a lower threshold for stress than a typical Malamute. When we realized he was having seizures, we got help quickly and he recovered immediately. We gave him homeopathic medicines for detoxing and calming which worked great for the immediate recovery. Both our vet and our homeopathic doctor suggested CBD oil to heal any possibly damaged nerve endings and to help get him through this. The plan is to keep him on the full dose of CBD oil for a month or so, then cut dose in half, then try cutting it out altogether. The CBD oil is simply a half dropper twice a day, then once a day, then, hopefully none. We are confident that a loving, low stress home will be enough to keep him seizure free and medicine free. Blood work was done twice, with normal results.
Max is an Owner Assist with Moonsong. He is very sweet, young, and well behaved and he will need a foster or adoptive home by the end of June 2019. If you are interested in fostering for us please visit our Foster/Volunteer page for more information and a link to our foster application.
