We're glad you stopped by to check out our Mallies in need of their "furever" homes! Moonsong Malamute Rescue is a non-profit organization of volunteers dedicated to assisting Alaskan Malamutes and their owners when in crisis throughout the Intermountain West.
Moonsong Malamute Rescue (MMR) offers educational material about the Alaskan Malamute breed, can assist in resolving containment issues, is able to help an owner with appropriately re-homing their Malamute when necessary, and can provide behavioral issues support in the form of referrals to trainers and other more experienced Malamute owners. We also have quite an extensive list of resources and links on our Learn About Mals page.
We are affiliated with the Alaskan Malamute Assistance League (AMAL), which is the national rescue organization recognized by the Alaskan Malamute Club of America. As an affiliate to AMAL, MMR operates under AMAL's code of ethics.
Donated funds are primarily used to help care for Malamutes with adoptable personalities that we have rescued from shelters, or who have been seized by authorities after having been abandoned, neglected, or abused. You can read all about adopting a Malamute from us HERE.
MMR is not a shelter or humane society. We foster our dogs from our homes. We are growing, and we need foster homes and volunteers to help care for our charges, so if you would like to help with MMR's efforts, please see our Foster and Volunteer sections.
Zach is a big, beautiful, sweet male Alaskan Malamute who needed a new home. His owners didn’t have time for him and he was kept chained up while they were gone. He would get loose and travel miles to find people and other dogs he could hang out with. When Moonsong Malamute Rescue took Zach into rescue we were amazed at what a wonderful gentle giant he was. We were so saddened when the eye doctor told us that Zach has severe cataracts in both eyes. The eye specialist said if Zach was a person, he would be legally blind. Cataract surgery is the only option now that can treat Zach’s blindness and give him the gift of sight. See more...
Moonsong needs foster homes! It's the only way we can save Mals in kill shelters and other desperate situations. Can you help? Get approved to foster or adopt any of our dogs by filling out our online foster application here and our adoption application here. We also need volunteers to help with dogs in boarding that need to be walked, groomed and get some attention. Please contact us if you can help with them! email@example.com
We rely on donations since we have no outside funding sources. Please see our Donate & Sponsor section for fun ways to help us help the Mallies in need.
