We're glad you stopped by to check out our Mallies in need of their "furever" homes! Moonsong Malamute Rescue is a non-profit organization of volunteers dedicated to assisting Alaskan Malamutes when in crisis throughout the Intermountain West.
Moonsong Malamute Rescue's (MMR) mission is to identify and rescue Alaskan Malamutes that have been abused, neglected, abandoned or surrendered by their owners to MMR or to a shelter, or brought to shelters as strays. We have been rescuing Malamutes for over 10 years. We provide foster care and help with basic socialization and training to improve adoptability. Donated funds are primarily used to help provide medical care including vaccinations, spaying or neutering and facilitate adoption to approved permanent homes. You can read all about adopting a Malamute from us HERE.
MMR also offers educational material about the Alaskan Malamute breed, can assist in resolving containment issues, is able to help an owner with appropriately re-homing their Malamute when necessary, and can provide behavioral issues support in the form of referrals to trainers and other more experienced Malamute owners. We also have quite an extensive list of resources and links on our Learn About Mals page.
MMR is not a shelter or humane society. We foster our dogs from our homes. We are growing, and we need foster homes and volunteers to help care for our charges. All too often we do end up assisting senior dogs that have been "dumped" in shelters or abandoned by their owners. Many of these older Mals don't find their forever homes, but spend the rest of their lives in loving foster homes and become "Forever Fosters". If you would like to help with MMR's efforts, please see our Foster and Volunteer sections.
Our volunteers are one of our most cherished assets and we couldn't accomplish what we do without their help. Our volunteers help by fostering, transporting and assessing dogs and walking, grooming and networking them! And we have some wonderful supporters who help us with monthly donations. None of our volunteers or board of directors are paid - we are all volunteering our time and energy for the love of the breed and concern for the Mals in need.
We are affiliated with the Alaskan Malamute Assistance League (AMAL), which is the national rescue organization recognized by the Alaskan Malamute Club of America. As an affiliate to AMAL, MMR operates under AMAL's code of ethics.
Moonsong needs foster homes! It's the only way we can save Mals in kill shelters and other desperate situations. Can you help? Get approved to foster or adopt any of our dogs by filling out our online foster application here and our adoption application here. We also need volunteers to help with dogs in boarding that need to be walked and groomed and get some attention. Please contact us if you can help with them! email@example.com
We rely on donations since we have no outside funding sources. Please see our Donate & Sponsor section for fun ways to help us help the Mallies in need.
You can donate directly through PayPal below. You can also send a donation to Moonsong Malamute Rescue, PO Box 5095, Boise, ID 83705-5095.
We are a federal non-profit group, so your donations are tax deductible. Thank you for your support!
In addition to the always welcome cash donation, we are very pleased to accept donations of large dog equipment to help house our charges, and are happy to accept other items of value that can be raffled or auctioned to benefit our rescue efforts.
If you are feeling up to the challenge, join the Moonsong Musher's Club and donate monthly to MMR in $10 (Novice), $20 (Advanced), or $30 (Iditarod) dollar increments! Pay Pal will bill you each month for your subscribed donation amount for one year. Your donations are tax deductible! Thank you for helping make a difference in the life of a rescue Mal! We appreciate your support and the dogs say Thank Wooooo!
