Volunteer
Volunteers and foster homes are our greatest need! Our rescue extends help to Northern breed dogs in 5 states – Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, Utah and northern Nevada. That is a lot of ground to cover, and we need volunteers in all of those states to join our rescue efforts, even if it is just to provide identification of dogs in shelters, assess dogs or to help coordinate the transportation of a Northern breed dog to safety. Help with transport is always needed! Imagine the difficulty and expense it takes to secure the safety of a dog 12 hours from the nearest available foster home. Daunting indeed, but with the help of volunteers we can do it! While we rely on other rescues for some of these needs in other states, the best people to help Northern breed dogs are people who live with them and understand the breeds. Fostering
Foster homes are the life blood of our rescue work. We can’t afford to board many dogs for very long and foster homes provide orphaned Malamutes with socialization, training, and monitoring of any medical conditions that may need to be addressed before they can be adopted out to a forever home. Right now we have a very limited number of foster homes available for our rescue Malamutes, and we would love to have as many as 20 of these homes at the ready throughout Idaho, Montana, northern Nevada, Utah and Wyoming.
If you are interested in fostering for us, first please make sure you fulfill our minimum requirements for adopting, which are the same for fostering.
If you do fulfill those requirements, please fill out our Foster Application. Be prepared, as we have some very stringent rules, but that is because we know our breed very well, and know what they require to keep them happy and contained. While our dogs are in foster care we continue to provide for their vet expenses and can help with a loan of harnesses, crates, pet gates, kennel runs, supplements, etc. You just provide the food and a structured, loving environment that they need to thrive.
