Hello, my name is Journey and while I look super big and tough, I’m really a giant teddy bear, like Winnie-the Pooh! Although for me, the life ahead of me really is “A Whole New World,” just like the Disney song. In fact, everything is new to me. Many things can be scary but the more familiar I become with them, the less scary they are and the more interesting they appear.

My name came from my journey into Moonsong’s care. I was surrendered by a breeder, and found myself traveling in a truck to Wyoming driven by a man known as Superman! My temporary home has me on a routine and schedule, and gives me lots of toys and treats. I eat my food well and am said to have a stomach of steel. I am non-reactive with other animals and like to sit in my kennel and watch the world around me. I am very treat-motivated and ride very well in a vehicle. The nice volunteers who spend time with me have taught me that harnesses and leashes are not so scary, and walks are actually something that people (and dogs) like to do! I like walks! The more walks I get, the better my leash skills become. However, life is still just too scary to be off leash. I’d run away like something from the Jungle Book was after me!

Unfortunately, (or fortunately) I shouldn’t go to a home with extremely small dogs. They really yap and yell at me and I don’t like that. Although, once on my journey (hey that’s my name too), I even got chased by a chicken! Yes, you heard that right…the 7 lb. chicken chased this 120 lb. big boy all the way across the doggy yard. I thought that my charm, good lucks would scare him away, but unfortunately that was not the case. All ended well for both the chicken and me, but, it was quite odd I must say.

Please note that Journey will take a lot of patience. Journey is not the dog to sit at your feet and want to be touched day and night, nor is he the dog that can be immediately taken out into public, busy streets, or crowded environments. He is not a guard dog. While his progress can be measured at slower rates than other dogs who’ve been rescued by Moonsong, and his settling time much longer, he will likely grow into the most loyal and rewarding animal that one could care for.
