Please note that it is our policy to only adopt and foster to applicants from Idaho or our neighboring states of Montana, Wyoming, Utah and northern Nevada, where no Malamute rescue organization is yet established. We also do not adopt or foster into Canada.
Can you help foster Malamutes looking for their forever home?
We’re so excited that you are interested in joining our foster team. Volunteers and foster homes are our greatest need! Our rescue extends help to Malamutes in 5 states – Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, Utah and northern Nevada. We would love to have as many as 20 of these homes at the ready throughout Idaho, Montana, northern Nevada, Utah and Wyoming

We work hard to find our dogs a good home
Malamutes are big. We have a thorough screening process, because we know they require a certain care from their owners. Please make sure you meet our minimum requirement below before filling out the form.

Applicants will only be accepted if they meet these
Minimum Requirements
- You or anyone living in your household have ever been charged with a sex crime, animal cruelty, or domestic battery.
- You do not have a well fenced yard. Well fenced is defined as a minimum height of 5′ tall (some dogs will need a higher fence) with no gaps or spaces over 3″ wide, and an equally sturdy gate that cannot be lifted off its hinges easily, and latches securely (preferably one that can be kept in place with a sturdy clip or padlock). Invisible fences are invisible, hence the name. They won’t protect your pet from other animals or malicious people, nor will they stop your pet from killing another animal that crosses into that area. Many Mals will take the “hit” to get out of these.
- There are children under the age of 8 living in your home (there may be exceptions, depending on the dog, please read the available dog descriptions carefully).
- You own an un-altered pet that is not shown or proven in the conformation ring.
- You rent and cannot provide a letter from your landlord that you are allowed to have a pet over 60 lbs.
- You cannot provide a minimum total of 45 minutes of daily exercise for the dog.
- You expect the dog to live outside full time.
- You have a low tolerance for dog hair.
- You intend to use aversive, negative and outdated training methods and devices on the dog. These devices can include choke chains, prong and shock collars.
- You are unable or unwilling to spend the time and money necessary to provide training, medical treatment and proper care for a pet
- You are under 23 years of age.

Foster Application
Thanks for thinking of a rescue Malamute! Please note that it is our policy to only adopt out to applicants from Idaho or our neighboring states of Montana, Wyoming, Utah and northern Nevada, where no Malamute rescue organization is yet established. We also do not adopt into Canada. We will reply via email within a few days once we receive your application. Please be patient as we are all volunteers with full time jobs, families, dogs of our own and often foster dogs to care for. Thanks for thinking of a rescue dog!
