Waving a paw (yes, I know paw) to my future family! I came to be part of Moonsong after a very rough beginning to the year. I was discovered running the country side in starved condition with several other abandoned dogs, and good Samaritans took us in. As a result of this misadventure, I am slowly learning to trust again.
The great news: I am very smart, and know basics like down, crate, paw, and sit. I keep my kennel run quite clean, but do tend to mark, so that would be something I would need training help with in an indoor environment. I trust women much more quickly and thoroughly than men, so ideally my new home will have gentle, soft spoken people that understand my need to be carefully introduced to anyone I don’t know well. I do tend to bark sharply at new people who move too fast or take liberties like picking up my toys, taking away my food, or petting me before I am comfortable. This is not aggression, but fear of being hurt or losing resources I was deprived of in the past.
Once I feel safe, I am much more affectionate and trusting. I would love a low traffic, quiet home that has time to exercise and love on me. I’m a big softie when hanging out with my own kind. Put me next to another dog or a chill cat, and I’ll relax completely. I’m quiet, respectful, and love to lounge in the sun near a furry sibling. I’m absolutely wonderful on a leash. My only flaw is that I can show a bit of resource guarding towards food and my trusted people, hence the careful introductions mentioned above. After being on my own for so long, living in a home with people will take time and patience. Let me come to you on my own terms and I will bond with you like no other. After all I’ve been through, will you be my safe harbor and home?
