Hello, my name is Lakota, and I can’t even contain my excitement about being pulled from a packed and noisy shelter and into the care of Moonsong! Did you know that there’s even a geologic reservoir named after me that is thousands of feet underground? (okay, well maybe it’s the other way around)!

I am a medium to large-sized husky, weighing close to 60 lbs. I’m mild to moderate energy, meaning that if you are active, I am active! If you are inactive, I can be too and would love nothing more than to be your favorite couch potato! I do very well with all dogs, though our fabulous volunteers have not yet tested me with small dogs. I walk exceptionally well on a leash and would make a great hiking buddy. I won’t pull you across a mountain, and I like to walk in a straight line! How many huskies can say that? I am an absolute love bug and seem to do well with all people of all shapes and sizes, and ride very well in a car. I am quite vocal and will let you know when I can use some attention! Oh… and GET THIS….I recall! I sit, I stay, and I recall. Few huskies can say that either!

There are a couple of things that you should know about me; I am not a fan of cats and will not be placed in a home with those odd creatures. I am also extremely smart and like to open gates. I won’t necessarily take off for an adventure, but I’ll try to get out to snuggle with my favorite human. I would do anything for a home with people who will spend a lot of time with me, as I don’t enjoy being alone. In fact, I would do best with a family that has somebody home most of the day to keep company with me, as I do have some separation anxiety.

Moonsong is still learning more about me, so please continue to check in. I’m waiting for woooo!

Disclosure: Lakota has a high prey drive with small animals and will not be placed in a home with such. He does exhibit separation (kennel) anxiety and would do best in a home with someone around most of the day. He injured his nose trying to get out of his kennel and pushing against the kennel latch at the shelter he was pulled from, though it is healing nicely.
