Note: Milo came to Moonsong having recently completed not one, but two 9-week obedience programs through Caged to Save. Caged to Save is a remarkable program in Wyoming in which shelter dogs are paired with prison inmates to live with full time while learning socialization, basic obedience, walking skills, proper interaction with humans and dogs, schedule, routine, and other necessary learning. Milo has graduated with honors and comes with his own Caged to Save certificate!
What. Is. Up?
My name is Milo (aka. “Jailbird”) and I literally just broke free from the slammer! Am I not the most adorable delinquent, the pretty boy from the pen, and the hunk of your dreams? After a short stint in prison, I am now ready to transition into civilian life!
At just a year-old, I already have some major character strengths to add to my rap sheet. I am first, GORGEOUS! I am still very much a puppy, and love to play with other dogs – in fact, I really like little dogs and play oh-so-gently. Other dogs give me confidence, as I am quite shy and bashful. While my history and resume could insinuate I’m a real tough cookie, I’m actually a scaredy-cat. My former handlers noted that I am crate-trained and am fiercely loyal to my human.
I do have a sad history. I was seized from an abusive home and landed in a rural shelter in Wyoming. I was very underweight and the shelter life was quite stressful for me. But then, the kind people at the shelter enrolled me in the Caged to Save program (described above)! As noted above, I am a very shy and timid pup – my new home will need to give me LOTS of patience as they allow me to come out of my shell at my own pace. I do startle easily and loud noises can be very scary for me; I want to bolt. I will need somewhere where I can decompress for a while and then be allowed to gain trust.
Milo is neutered and will need a very secure yard as he has shown to be a flight risk (though he’s promised to stay in the country) – no off-leash shenanigans for Milo. Milo is also untested with cats…more to come on that. Milo is reportedly potty-trained and good with children. Finally, Milo does resource guard his food and will need to be fed separately from other animals.
