Hola!
My name is Nina, and in Spanish that means “little girl!” That is exactly what I am – a pint-sized, sweeter-than-honey, medium-energy malamute mix. I just love people and am about as loyal as they get! I was abandoned by my previous owners and found myself in a shelter in rural Idaho. When Moonsong found out about me, they pulled me just before I was slated for an eternal nap.
Moonsong is still learning a lot about me, but at just shy of 50 lbs., they know that my pros outweigh my cons. I really like to play with my tennis ball, although don’t count on me to return it to you after a toss of fetch! My foster mom also says I love to hop like a rabbit in the dog yard. I’m still learning what zoomies are – my comfort level continues to improve in Moonsong’s care. Moonsong thinks that I am house-trained, as I wait nicely until I am let outside to go potty. I do great on leash, do not counter-surf, love to watch tv, and am not distracted by barking dogs, nor do I challenge dogs across the fence. I am also extremely smart, and my foster mom has observed that I love spending time in my crate, have learned how to use the dog door in a short-time period, and love to cuddle! My blanket is one of my favorite things! I ride nicely in a car, and oh…yes, I LOVE to howl and talk, or “hablar.” In the typical northern-breed style of wooing, you could say that I’m not a quiet girl. On a funnier note, Moonsong thinks that I may know Spanish! I may need some commands reinforced in English upon my adoption!
I do have some quirks, though. I didn’t initially care for stairs but now have learned they aren’t so scary. I initially didn’t like hard wood floors but also am learning they aren’t frightening – I love to hop from rug-to rug. How silly! I don’t mind concrete or grass though! I have exhibited some resource guarding of my foster mom and have displayed a more dominant and bossy personality around my submissive foster sibling (the furry kind.)
Moonsong is still learning about my behaviors around other animals yet it’s safe to assume no small animals or cats for me. Like any northern breed, I will need a fenced yard to contain my adventurous side.
To sum up, I’m a petite gal that just likes to be around her people and some other dogs. I would love to come to hang out at your casa, permanently! Stay tuned!
