Hey everybody!
My name is Sitka. I am a 5-year-old pure Malamute girl from the tip of my nose to the end of my fluffy tail. I lived with my first family for most of my life and spent my first two years running and stretching my legs whenever I wanted. But now, my humans have moved and I can no longer enjoy these activities. I do enjoy my walks but with my people working longer hours and not around as much, my walks have gotten shorter and shorter. I was raised in a pretty secluded area which afforded me the opportunity to do my running but it limited my exposure to other humans and dogs. I am pretty protective around my pack and although I am slowly warming up to people, I do not think I should be around smaller children. Believe it or not, I do like cats! I ‘raised’ four little kittens and stood guard outside their kennel for weeks making sure they were safe. I see them outside on occasion and they still come up to me for a sweet nuzzle. I may scare a new kitty because of my size but I promise I have never shown any aggression towards any feline friends.I also have not been around many other dogs. I sometimes have a problem with new situations so it might be best if I was the only dog in the family. Besides, that way I don’t have to share any of the attention. I am house trained and have never made a mess inside my home. There’s something about messing where I live that just goes against my nature! I don’t dig, jump fences or chew up my human’s belongings. I will be the first to admit that I do not like wind, rain and thunder storms. If you have it in your heart to take me into your family, I will do my best to become a great companion for you. I would live someone who enjoys walks, runs, and has time to play with me an teach me new things.
From Moonsong: Sitka is a very sweet, playful dog. She is spayed, up to date on her shots and very healthy. She must have suffered some kind of traumatic event at a vet’s office as she can lash out when at the vet. She will need someone who is patient with her as she has never been socialized with other dogs or other people but once she trusts you, she is a very loving companion.
