Meet Spirit, the sweetest companion you could ask for!

Spirit truly lives up to his name. He first came to the shelter at 6 months old as a stray with injuries and has since come back from a hoarding situation with other dogs and cats. Despite coming from a rough background, his bright and loving personality has never dimmed. He’s an affectionate, loyal boy who will happily follow you around and is eager to be part of whatever you’re doing. Spirit adores pets and snuggles, he’ll even lean into you for extra love!

Spirit is also on a journey of recovery. After suffering a prolonged broken leg, he has since had his leg pinned back together and has been working hard to regain its use, but even as a tripod, he gets around just fine! He is currently doing PT exercises to try to recover his leg since he has arthritis in all of his legs, it would be harder on his joints without his back leg. He came into the shelter very emaciated, matted, and unkept. Hes been a rockstar through all of his care, being very tolerant and well behaved during his grooming sessions, and has been happy to be spoiled with any treats and good food, regaining his weight quickly. Yet, he still remains resilient, joyful, and full of love.

This gentle soul is pretty quiet, he hasn’t barked at anything and will only let out a soft “woo” when he’s excited or wants to come into a room with you. He prefers having company, whether it’s a person who’s home often or just another pet of any species. That said, if left alone, he will do fine and settle after a little bit. While he’s not a big fan of the crate, he goes in willingly and is good with it.

Spirit currently lives with another younger dog at the foster home and has been incredibly patient and friendly with her. He gets along wonderfully with dogs, cats, and kids, he’s truly the definition of a gentle giant! On walks, Spirit is a dream, he hasn’t pulled, reacted, or gotten distracted by other dogs, people, or animals, and likes to lean into you on walks for support.

Spirit is semi-potty trained and learning quickly! He hasn’t quite learn to signal when he needs to go out, but will go whenever let outside on command. Though he doesn’t know quite where to best spots are yet, and will g,o right outside the door, but if you walk him to the yard, he will only go in the yard. He will hold it until let out for a while and has only had 1 accident! He doesn’t chew anything other than his toys and doesn’t counter surf unless it’s at his level. This sweet boy has endured so much and deserves a loving home where he’ll be cherished. If you’re looking for a gentle, affectionate, and well-mannered companion, Spirit is ready to be your best friend.

If you have any further questions or want a meet and greet, you can contact me directly, or if you’re interested in adopting Spirit, you can either email PACC animal shelter in Tucson or visit during regular business hours at the PACC’s shelter.
